Christina Hall is sharing priceless life lessons about finance as she navigates her divorce from Josh Hall.
Alongside a selfie of herself smiling in a car, the HGTV star thanked her parents for instilling in her a strong work ethic and encouraging her to become self-sufficient.
"Thanks mom & dad for always teaching me about hard work," the 41-year-old wrote on Instagram Sept. 4. "and making sure I knew the importance of making my own money."
Christina added, "It doesn’t buy 'happiness' but it does buy more opportunities & less people being able to mess with me.. and that makes me happy."
The Christina on the Coast star shared her words of wisdom over a month after she and Josh filed for divorce after more than two years of marriage. In his filing, her ex requested she pay him spousal support, with her slamming the request in her own legal filing.
"Like all hard-working mothers, my life revolves around my children and my work," Christina—who shares kids Taylor, 13, and son Brayden, 8, with ex Tarek El Moussa and son Hudson, 4, with ex Ant Anstead—wrote in her July 23 declaration. "It is my understanding that Josh has his own income and therefore he should not need any spousal support from me."
In the court documents, the Flip or Flop alum also accused her estranged husband of transferring funds into his own bank account without her permission.
"Quite frankly I am shocked and concerned by the fact that he has diverted over $35,000 of my separate property money to his separate account on July 8, 2024," she wrote. "The fact that this is the same date he now alleges to be our date of separation, even though it is actually July 7, 2024, makes it clear why he chose the next day."
Christina added, "It makes me wonder what else I am not aware of as it relates to his financial situation and that is why I am having a full forensic accounting performed for the entire term of our marriage."
E! News reached out to both Christina and Josh's reps for comment at the time but didn’t hear back.
In August, Josh, 43, broke his silence about his and Christina's breakup, sharing insight into how their relationship came to an end. "I prefer privacy, especially during something as life changing as a divorce I did not ask for," he wrote on Instagram. "I will not publicly badmouth anyone as people have families, friends and others who respect and love them."
He continued, "Unfortunately the internet is forever. We are real humans, this is our life and I am not here to entertain people I don’t know with my private matters. Those details will be handled fairly behind closed doors with our respective counsels in due time. Those who know each of us, know who we are."
Look back at Christina and Josh's relationship...
Sparks flew while Christina and Josh started spending time together. The couple recreated their March 2021 date a year later.
While on vacation for Christina's birthday, the two posed for a photo on the beach and made their relationship Instagram official.
Months in, Christina had a message for any haters, noting she'll "turn off comments with Josh and will continue to do so if people are rude." As she later put it, "Do what you love with the ones you love. For me, that's Josh, my kids and a few close friends and co-workers."
Engaged! One day after celebrating Josh's birthday, Christina confirmed the duo's romance was anything but a flop.
The pair celebrated the spooktacular season with a visit to Universal Studios Halloween Horror Nights.
Just a few months later, they marked their first Christmas together.
"Building life together and enjoying some alone time," she captioned this sweet pic. "Love you Josh."
The following month, Christina enjoyed the "Best Valentine's weekend with my Valentine."
"Prayed for a man who was all man but still treated me like his queen," Christina wrote on Instagram just a few days before news of her and Josh's marriage broke. "Never give up."
In April 2022, fans learned that Christina and Josh privately tied the knot. They then celebrated their union with a wedding in Hawaii that September.
"Shared vows in front of family and our close friends," Christina wrote on Instagram Sept. 4. "Everything in life has led me to where I am right now, which is exactly where I want to be. My dream man on the dreamiest island. Maui holds a special place in my heart. What an amazing night filled with love."
It would later be revealed that the two actually wed in October 2021.
The real estate agent celebrated the HGTV star's birthday with a sweet tribute.
"Happy 40th Birthday to my absolute stunner of a wife!" he wrote on Instagram. "This woman has accomplished so much, inspired so many and continues to impress me daily. I can’t say enough about what an absolute force she is and what she is capable of. Christina is about to make her 40’s the best decade of her life and looking better than ever while doing it!I’m a lucky man and thank my lucky stars that she chose me to take this ride with her that is now our life. Ride or die baby, love you more than anything."
Christina and Josh stepped out for a beach day with her French bulldog Cash and his dog Stella.
"Still going strong…" Josh wrote on Instagram alongside photos over the pair from over the past three years. "03/2024 ← 03/2023 ← 03/202← 03/2021."
In July 2024, Josh filed for divorce from Christina, citing "irreconcilable differences” as the reason for their split and her listing the same in her own court documents.
